Three common classifications of CNC machine tools

The emergence of CNC machine tools is a major progress in the industry. It can better solve complex, precise, small batch, and changeable parts processing problems. It is a flexible and efficient automated machine tool. When programmers use CNC machine tools for processing, they must first conduct process analysis. Select appropriate machine tools based on the material, contour shape, processing accuracy, etc. of the workpiece to be processed, formulate a processing plan, determine the processing sequence of the parts, the tools, fixtures and cutting quantities used in each process, etc.

CNC machine tools can be classified according to three principles: motion control trajectory, servo control method, and CNC system function level:

1. Motion control trajectory

Point-controlled CNC machine tools: mainly include CNC drilling machines, CNC milling machines, CNC punching machines, etc.

Linear control CNC machine tools: mainly include relatively simple CNC lathes, CNC milling machines, CNC grinders, etc.

Contour control CNC machine tools: mainly include CNC lathes, CNC milling machines, CNC wire cutting machine tools, machining centers, etc.

2. Servo control method

Open-loop control CNC machine tools, closed-loop control machine tools (full closed-loop control, semi-closed-loop control), hybrid control CNC machine tools (open-loop compensation type, semi-closed-loop compensation type).

3. Function level of CNC system

Metal cutting CNC machine tools: ordinary CNC machine tools and machining centers.

Metal forming CNC machine tools: Common ones include CNC presses, CNC bending machines, CNC pipe bending machines, CNC spinning machines, etc.

Special processing CNC machine tools: mainly include CNC wire EDM machines, CNC EDM forming machines, CNC flame cutting machines, CNC laser processing machines, etc.

Measuring and drawing CNC machine tools: mainly three-coordinate measuring instruments, CNC tool setters, CNC plotters, etc.

CNC machine tool is the abbreviation of digital control machine tool. It is an automated machine tool equipped with a program control system. The control system can logically process programs with control codes or other symbolic instructions and decode them to make the machine tool move and process parts.

The above is an introduction to three common classifications of CNC machine tools.
